History

2012

Our company, Hi-Flyer Food (Canada) Inc. was formed in May 2012 when we acquired 57 KFC and Taco Bell restaurants in Alberta and Manitoba from Priszm Income Fund, and were granted the franchise rights to operate these stores by YUM! Canada Inc.

In July of the same year, our company acquired an additional 65 KFC stores in Quebec, under an affiliate, Olympus Food Canada Inc.

Together, Hi-Flyer and Olympus, and our 1,300+ team members, and supported by our Philippine-based parent company – the Ramcar Food Group, embarked on our journey of delivering KFC’s So Good promise of quality food and excellent service to customers in Canada.

The Ramcar Food Group holds the master franchise rights for KFC in the Philippines, with more than 260 locations across the country. The group also operates other quick service and fast-casual restaurants.

2013

In 2013, we saw both companies, Hiflyer and Olympus, performing very well as they outpaced the system in same store sales growth with the introduction of new products and programs – both nationally and locally.

The growth in transactions called for a more robust corporate team to support all of our stores, as well as a scalable system infrastructure to accommodate present and future stores. Our Restaurant Support Centers in Calgary and Montreal, then as they are now, are ably composed of support staff of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. Cultural diversity – as one of the group’s main thrusts, is evident in our restaurants as well as in our head office.

2014

While the first two years of the company were focused on laying the foundations for future growth, 2014 served as a banner year for innovation and re-investments in Hi-Flyer and Olympus. The Home Delivery business was re-launched with the construction of a new Call Center for the Quebec stores in April. French-speaking and bi-lingual operators were then able to take and process orders more efficiently.

We started renovating and upgrading our stores in Calgary and Montreal, in line with the latest design templates of YUM!

We also relaunched our Employee Development and Rewards programs. Training and re-training of Operations leaders were conducted across all markets to develop them as strategic, proactive and creative business managers.

The Founder`s Day held in October of 2014 aimed at giving the spotlight to the Cooks through instant awards and recognition as Certified KFC cooks.

Recognition as a culture is embodied in STRIVE, a holistic personnel development, incorporating the best practices in training, rewards and recognition, and people development and engagement.

Onward and Upward


Since 2013, our Company has made significant investments in asset upgrades and renovations, starting with locations in Calgary, then in Edmonton and a few in Montreal. Several more projects are lined up in the future, with the goal of having some of the best-looking, most energy efficient stores in Canada.

We are continuously looking for opportunities to expand our network of stores in our current geographic areas.

Our Canadian journey is just beginning. We, the growing family of Hi-Flyer and Olympus, will continue to move forward towards our vision of Putting a Smile on the Communities we serve, by feeding them with Passion, Teamwork, and Pride.
